Luck was in pocket that day and My Grand Father said he has read in newspaper that today we can see the brightest and biggest full moon in 2010 (at 8PM on January 30th, 2010 – read article below). And why would I leave such opportunity to test the Zoom and Hi-Definition in camcorder. I had my Photo tripod positioned by evening and was ready to go. Captured a loooot of Full Moon around 8PM. This is known as Wolf Moon in the West. This being the second Full moon in the same month, it is also a Blue Moon. It sure appeared to be bigger than normal. Happy Moon and Happy Me.

Here is one of several clips of that day:

Times of India news Article about why this Full Moon is special:

Don’t forget to watch the Moon today — it will be the brightest and biggest full Moon of 2010.

Scientists said the Moon will be at its brightest and biggest because its orbit is an ellipse with one side being 50,000 km closer to the Earth than the other. Saturday’s full moon will be around 15% bigger and 30% brighter as compared to other full moons.

Science Popularization Association of Communicators and Educators (Space) director C B Devgun said the full moon will be at its best around 8 pm.

The two extremes are called apogee (far away) and perigee (nearby). On January 30, the Moon becomes full, three hours after reaching the perigee, making it bigger and brighter. The moon at its perigee will look bigger than it looks in all other positions, as the apparent size of closer objects is always more. At its closest, the Moon is about 3,56,630 km from the Earth, compared to the average distance of 3,84,800 km.

N.S. Raghunandan Kumar, general secretary of the Planetary Society of India added: “As this is the second full moon of the month, this will also be a blue moon.”

Here is a beautiful case study of a taxi driver who is winning customers from a simple video on YouTube.

It was Devesh Mishra’s friend from Singapore who shot the video and uploaded it on YouTube. “I know a little bit of English as I am intermediate (10+2) educated. However, in the video, I was helped by my friend as he told me what exactly to speak in front of the camera,” the taxi driver reveals. Mishra further informs that eight foreign travellers have so far contacted him and five of them have turned out to be good business.

According to Mishra it was amazing to get such response and this made him understand the power of internet. “It was a wise decision as I eventually understood that I could not have reached those consumers if I had advertised on some other media. Internet helped me to reach out to foreign customers,” he said.

Internet has now become an important part of Mishra’s life. “I created my email id on Yahoo and now I religiously surf the internet at least twice a week. I get hundreds of emails every week. Most of the mails are from foreign travellers looking for my services. I also visit Yahoo and Google to be always updated about latest happenings,” he said.

Get the full story here.

See? Now that’s a good case study of how the Internet can be put into use.

But, well if you think what kind of accent this man has,.. He is an ordinary Local Taxi Driver, You are not looking at a pilot. Are you?

I Wish Good Luck and Success to this man who is for sure going to be a role model for several others.

In.com is running a contest for an Online reality show/series that will showcase five people who will be sent to 5 different cities in South Africa and these five people have to travel and blog on the go. Post videos and write articles.

As soon as i read the first page of the Fantastic Five site, I immediately thought WOW, may be this is here for me. But I was disappointed to see a rule saying “You must have at least one International Travel.” What does this have to do with finding passionate people/bloggers who are interested in Traveling to South Africa and blogging, posting videos about what they see there and ultimately impress the online audience?

I haven’t done any International Travel yet, but I’m no less interested in the Fantastic Five. All my life I have been watching only channels like NGC, Discovery, Animal Planet and Travel and Living. Those are the channels that play on my TV 90% of the time. I am a great fan of Sir David Attenborough and his programs, a great admirer of people like Steve Irwin, Mike and Mark. Do you watch Mad Mike and Mark? hmm.. you should be mad to watch it really.

Ok now finally what sounds like a great opportunity to travel, do wild safari and blog a lot and keep the audience interested, now sounds like “hey, relax this contest is not for the average guys, this is only for rich dudes or business people who do International Travel”? Yes a lot disappointed after seeing that. Being in the Lucky 5 is one thing, now I should even forget getting shortlisted? This is pretty bad.

An appeal to Web18/In.com and South Africa Tourism: Please change the rule that the contestants need to have at least one International travel. You will seriously miss people like me and People like me will miss one very good opportunity to do what they love to do the most.

I am not just passionate to contest, I am sure luck will favor me to the lucky five and I will be the most followed contestant in the whole of the series. So, Please give me a fair chance.

Myself, my sweetheart and our friends(13 of us) just had a great weekend trip to remember. We went for a 2 day trip to Talakona Jungle and Waterfalls (located ~80 km from Tirupati) and Horsley Hills, also known as Ooty of Andhra Pradesh (located 144 km from Tirupati, 160 km from Bangalore).

We started on Friday evening from Hyderabad (Secunderabad station) taking Padmavati express which started at 6:30 PM and we reached Tirupati at 7:30 AM, from there we took a mini bus (15 seater) (cost:5.8K/2days including diesel, rent and driver beta) and headed to Talakona Jungle. We booked a AP Tourism Resort (Punnami) in Talakona. Anyway, that’s the only place to stay in Talakona, but was decent enough. If you ever go here, make sure you close your doors and beware of the monkeys. We quickly freshed-up and headed to the jungle where there was a small waterfalls. Not a waterfalls actually, but was a good one to start with. Came back to the rooms, had lunch at a small village style hotel near the resort and left for the main waterfalls. It was a long walk from there but the fun after reaching the waterfalls was 10 times worth the walk. By the time we started back from the waterfalls, it was almost dark. We had dinner at the same place and then camp fire and then deep sleep. Next day, in the early hours, we started to Horsley hills. The climate there was awesome. Every moment was captured on camera.

We have taken a lot of photos to share. Below is a snapshot of photos.
