Why would two different companies, one dealing with the organizing of the worldwide information and the other specialized in operating systems and software applications, fight about?

At first glance, for no reason! But the truth is that Google has become Microsoft’s number one enemy. And not necessarily because Microsoft wants a piece of the online ad action or because Google has been hiring several Microsoft ex-engineers. Actually, the Kai Fu Lee lawsuit was the last straw in the conflict between the two giants and this is the first time when Microsoft was able to take Google to the court of law, where the Redmond giant feels most comfortable.

But the conflict between Microsoft and Google goes much deeper than that. As long as Google has stayed in the online searching business, Microsoft has had nothing against the ‘do no evil’ company. But lately, Google has started to release software, to explore new domains, to invent new methods of using the PC, and that is already too much to take for Microsoft.

As the talk spreads about the new google desktop search. Webmasters and site owners are happy about the one cool plugin around. Well, what will the be happy about? That is obviously related to money and only money. There was a firefox extension for the same purpose, but some how if didnt work properly and people were looking for something more handy. And its in. Its none other but the Google Adsense Status plugin created by Software .

I thought it was the same old story of desktop search beta 1.
I felt horrible with the first version. It was taking more resource than any other application. If just an indexing application takes so much CPU resource, what about the other applications that we never close for days together? And it was taking some 500MB of space. Just to index? sounds like my system search is also like a google data center. Irritated, I un-installed and deleted all the index.

Now google is back with another new beta version.
I’m adicted to it more than any other application on my desktop.
I have been playing with the new Google Desktop for the past 2 days now and I really like it. It gives me access to something that I use often and keeps them right were I can keep an eye on them.
I have a collection of desktop tools that can make things easy. You know what I mean? easy in every sense.

It has all I want. A simple gmail notifier/indexer, news, search includes desktop(my computer) search, photos to rotate, to keep memories refreshing(you can select the photos folder).

Cool plugins like scratch pad(where you can write anything and it will be saved without your confirmation); Todo(you can save your to do tasks) and Adsense status(this is wonderful addon which displays adsense earnings).

Sticking to the left or right end of the screen, it gives you a wonderful experience.

Its been a while now that we in the Search Engine Industry are hearing about Google Talk.

The release went a day early than rumoured.

Google has been dominating the search engines for a long while now. And now that they are into instant messaging to compete with Yahoo! IM, MSN Messenger and may be VOIP software Spyke too? We just have to wait and see the critics and reviews. who knows if they are targeting just the IMs or VOIP tools too? May be thats their ultimate idea!

Now that Google is into every thing that other search engines / portals offer.

I’m just wondering whats next!
