YouTube is now Google’s Property!

Posted in Cool Sites, Google, Search Engine News

If you are late to know this, let me tell you, the recent article at WebProNews stating it a rumor is now real. The news came from the New York Times and here is what it has to say:

A profitless Web site started by three 20-somethings after a late-night dinner party is sold for more than a billion, instantly turning dozens of its employees into paper millionaires. It sounds like a tale from the late 1990s dot-com bubble, but it happened Monday.

Google, the online search company, agreed Monday to pay $1.65 billion in stock for the Web site that came out of that party — YouTube, the video-sharing phenomenon that is the darling of an Internet resurgence known as Web 2.0.

YouTube, founded in February 2005, had been coveted by virtually every big media and technology company as they seek to tap into a new generation of consumers who are viewing 100 million short videos on the site every day.

Google’s hidden payroll

Posted in Adsense, Blogging, Google

Months back I read an article in USAtoday.com which is a very good explaination of what google adsense has been upto.

Since its launch in 2003, the Google Adsense program has revolutionized Web publishing, turning blogs and personal websites into potentially lucrative ventures.

It is easy to join. A Web publisher or blogger simply completes an online Adsense form. Google then places ads on the site, similar to those that appear next to search results on Google. The ads are contextually matched to content on the host site, so a blog post about having a headache might attract ads for pain-relief medicine.

Anyone with a site is eligible, and Web forums are awash in success stories of small online entrepreneurs placing ads on their sites, sitting back, and watching checks from Google roll in.

Perfectly placed Ads Minded WordPress Theme

Posted in Adsense, Blogging, WordPress

Sapiensbryan.com has released a wordpress theme which targets high CTR for ads. It can be either adsense ads or anything like adbrite too. I have seen several themes which are made keeping adsense clouds in mind. But none of them could convince me that they will get a good CTR than a general wordpress theme. But yes with this one, i’m really convinced that it will do very well for ads. Especially if you use adsense. If you need any adsense optimization, you can get in touch with me.

If you are looking for a theme that will make good money as well as spare the content overview too, I suggest you better stop looking and go with this. Very good work!

Here is a screenshot of it:

Ugly sites earn more with google adsense?

Posted in Adsense, Google

Rusty Brick talks about why Ugly Sites Earn More With Google AdSense.
It says “people land on the site, and immediately want to click off. They find the nearest ad, and most attractive part of the page, which happens to be the AdSense ad, and clicks off. Phew, they are saved and they move on to a real dating site, that is both professional looking and functional.”

Well, thats true. We come across lots of sites which are made for nothing but to display adsense and make users click on them. Some sites dont even have enough content to read but will have enough ads to click. And as we know, these ads are tempting because they are written by professionals. Well, thats a part of my job too. I mean writing and optimizing ads to make more sense or to be straight, to increase the CTR. Well, as the arguement says, these sites can be spam but users endup on high quality sites. the visitor gets what he wants, Google make money and the webmaster using adsense also makes money. To me, may be thats the way it should go! may be it can be called as an win-win situation?

another great blogger.com blog turns to wordpress

Quick Online Tips is one of the blogs that I regularly visit and have some great reading. Being a fan of Google, Firefox, WordPress, Blogging & Technology, there are few more blogs like this one which have the same passion as i do. If you are a blogger and a techie, and if you never came across this quick online tips, check it out now! It was hosted with blogger.com previously and now with wordpress script and now has its own domain. The advantage is that, one can customize a wordpress blog for extreme features which blogger.com or any other script does not provide. And no support is as good as wordpress.org community. WordPress fans like me feel happy to see these big blogs migrating to wordpress.

Well, if you are looking to setup your own blog and dont know where to start, you can just ping me from my contact page.

Bigdaddy! Big changes on Google to come

Posted in Google, Search Engine News

1

Google has announced a major update that will affect the ranking of web pages in Google’s index. In contrast to the usual algorithm updates, this update will be much bigger because it changes the way Google works behind the scenes. Google has given the update the name “Bigdaddy”.

What is Google’s Bigdaddy update?

Google uses a network of data centers with different IP addresses to answer search queries. These decentralized servers share the workload of indexing web sites.

The upcoming Bigdaddy update is not an algorithm update but a change in Google’s data center infrastructure. It contains new code for sorting and examining web pages. According to Google’s search engineer Matt Cutts, the update will be live in February or March.

Less spam, more content and a new Google spider?

Google is updating the data center infrastructure to handle potential spam problems such as 302 redirections or canonical URLs more efficiently. In addition, the new infrastructure will allow Google to develop more advanced algorithms and larger databases.

Another reason for the new data center infrastructure is that Google wants to be able to index different content types. Google is now testing a new search engine spider that is based on the Mozilla browser.

The new spider should be able to index more than traditional search engine spiders, possibly links within images, JavaScripts or Flash files.

How can you test how Bigdaddy will affect your rankings?

Some Google data centers that use the new Bigdaddy system are already online. For example, if you go to 66.249.93.104 you can test Google’s new data center.

Google even wants your feedback. Click the “Dissatisfied? Help us improve” link at the bottom right of the result page. Enter your feedback and use the keyword bigdaddy so that Google knows that your feedback is about the new data center.

It’s hard to tell how the Bigdaddy update will affect your web page rankings. If you have a spam free web site with good content and many incoming links, the update should have a positive effect on your Google rankings.
